Whoops!

A few days ago, I took off Kai's footy-jammies after an hour or so of him waking up. He had been walking on his tip-toes more than normal that morning and after changing him, I found out why.

I noticed that one of the footies had a little more weight to it than the other. I fished my hand into the bottom and found a balled up sock that must have gotten there during the washing and drying process. I looked up at Kai to say, "Sorry" and he was looking down at his foot and marching in place, feeling normalcy once again.

I felt TERRIBLE!!! I hate having even the smallest fold in my sock and Kai walked around with this huge "growth" on the underside of his foot.

I just wonder where the match to that sock has gone?! I'll have to watch for some more tip-toeing I guess.

DING-DONG

Okay, seriously......who doorbell ditches anymore?! I know there's not much to do here in Flagstaff but I don't understand how someone could get bored enough to be out in the cold and ring doorbells ----- FOR FUN!!! I could maybe see how a few kids might be walking to their friends house and get this AMAZINGLY ORIGINAL idea to ring peoples' doorbells on their way there. But the fact is...... I know that wasn't the case for me last night because they did it THREE TIMES!!!! Yeah. The doorbell rang as I was pulling kids out of a bath, I went down to answer the door, nobody there. Two minutes later, there was a KICK on the door!! (Can you imagine how stupid that kid must have looked? "I'm too cool to ring the doorbell, watch this!") So I didn't go down for another minute or so (still getting kids in bed)......... when I DID go down, I was right by the door when they rang the doorbell again. I unlocked the deadbolt as fast as I could, but by the time I got out there --- 4 seconds later, I couldn't find ANYONE!!! I was sooooo annoyed.

I sat there by the door for a good 10-15 minutes just waiting for them to chance it again. I was not going to miss them a fourth time. I must have scared them with my intense searching after the third ring because they never came back. The worst part of all........ Jeff wasn't here. He had a basketball game. I have a feeling they wouldn't have even come a second or third time if Jeff had been the one to answer the door.

I just hope they don't come back tonight when I have a babysitter here. Yikes!

The BEST Up-Do EVER

So I just absolutely LOVE having my hair brushed, styled, played with, etc. I LOVE IT!! Growing up I would seize every opportunity of having my sisters play with my hair............most of the time it was quite a sight to see (and not a pretty one). But it didn't matter.

I am reminded of this love every time I get my hair done, and yesterday while Rae (my stylist) was blow-drying my hair, I had a great idea.......... What about Griffin? He's the closest thing I have here to a little sister. I was surprised when he was 'all for it'. He brushed my hair for about 5 minutes and then asked, "What do you want your hair like?" My reply was, "How about up high." He then started to brush my hair to the top of my head. Griffin then said, "Mom, how about.....you want your hair like Spiderman?" This statement reassured me that I was not turning him gay for asking him to brush my hair. I said, "Sure." He searched the house for any hair accessory that was red, because "Spiderman only has red on his head."

This was the final product:
Not bad, right? I'll have him post a step-by-step of this fabulous hairstyle that I'm sure ALL of you are coveting.

PUMP IT UP !!!

This morning I decided to do a workout off of FitTV, which I'm SO glad we have. It gets so cold here and I don't want to go walking, running, or bike-riding in this weather...... PLUS we don't have a gym membership because of $$$$$, so there you go. FitTV it is.

Part of the workout involved hand weights. I had my set and Griffin had his.
Wow, Griffin looks a lot happier working out. Maybe I should try sitting on the couch and using matchbox cars next time.

Ta-Dah!!

Well, what does everyone think about my first attempt at creating my own blog template? Thanks to Caroline Bingham's step-by-step 'how-to', I gave it a whirl today. It took some time, but, like she says, once you get used to all the codes, it's no big deal.
Thanks Caroline!!
Her blog link is on my sidebar if anyone wants to try for themselves. The first time, you might want to try during nap time. However, it may have just taken me longer because I'm so indecisive. Even now, I'm thinking, "What else can I change?"......... "There's a lot of cute paper out there."....... I haven't figured out how to make a spectacular header yet, so any suggestions on that would help.
Also, does anyone know why I'm having trouble getting spaces between my paragraphs?

What's wrong with me!?

I'm sitting here on a Sunday afternoon....... 4:18pm to be precise. Our ward is done at two-o-clock now and that works much better for our nap schedule. Which brings me back to the title of my blog. Everyone else is taking a nap and I've been laying in bed for half an hour now and can't go to sleep. What the heck!! I DO enjoy being able to just sit and think by myself, so I shouldn't complain too much. I just know that everyone else is going to be all hyped up and fully rested and I'll still be going down hill. Oh well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today was Griffin's first day as a Sunbeam. Oh boy. He did GREAT for the first....... ten minutes. After that he was up walking around, trying to get into my bag in the back, figuring out which chair fit him best, complaining that our chorister wasn't doing any "fun" songs, etc. Me being in there the whole time probably doesn't help either. I just think they need to make it an easier transition from Nursery to Sunbeams. It's like, "Here kids....... go play with toys and have snacks for two hours" but then one Sunday when they least expect it, just take it all away. No games, no toys, no fun songs, no snacks. "Just sit quietly in your chair and listen to grown ups for two hours instead." Poor kids. I guess I should say, poor Griffin because he seemed to be the only one with a big problem today. Maybe next week will be better. ???
Home again!
Wow! It feels like we've been gone FOREVER. We left Flagstaff on Dec. 21st and just got back on the 6th of January.
It was a great trip overall. Besides kids getting sick here and there, we had a good time. Christmas morning I was all ready with my video camera to capture the first Christmas that Griffin would probably remember and know what's going on. Only to find out after a minutes worth of taping that I was out of tape. Arrrrrrgggg!!! And no, I wasn't smart enough to come prepared with another tape. So we got as much as we could with our picture camera. Here are a few shots:
Griffin had jumped on the couch and started digging in before the rest of us even got in the room.
Kai was having a bad morning and I ended up giving in to a cheese-puff and rice crispy treat breakfast.
Griffin was so dramatic when opening the drawing table. It was like the wrapping paper was his enemy.
Kai's big gifts were this dump truck and a Deluxe Marble Race buildable tower thing. I built "the ultimate" tower when we got home.
After a few small gifts which included crutons (he loves them), we had Griffin open his second "big" gift from Santa. You may be wondering why his pants are off. Well, he just couldn't wait another second to put on his new Scooby Doo underwear.
Sea World was a lot of fun but VERY crowded. Is anyone else amazed at how often strollers and baby bags do NOT get stollen while at amuzement parks. I mean, they're just sitting there while standing in line or at the shows!! Tons of them. I'm thankful, don't get me wrong, just amazed.
After we got home from Sea World, we spent another week in the valley participating in family pictures and a White Elephant party with some of my cousins.
Then it was time to pack up and go. I LOVE our minivan. It's incredible how much stuff we fit into it for the trip home. And we didn't even have to pile luggage on top of the boys!!! Phew.
It's good to be home!!
